A Meditation Day Retreat in the Forest

equanimity: Finding balance during the holidays

Come for a meditation day retreat with Bala on Saturday, November 12th from 10:00am - 6:30pm to reset and reflect on living with balance through the holiday season.

We will gather in the heated yurt for guided and silent periods of meditation and discussion and also enjoy periods of walking meditation nearby in the natural surrounds of the forest. We will finish our experience by honoring the land and sharing a forged pine and cedar tea together.

Sliding scale payment

Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. We’ll be offering payment for this meditation day retreat on a sliding scale basis to ensure access for everyone. After registering below, you’ll be taken to a payment page where you can choose your amount.

  • Meditation Day Retreat Standard Rate: $50 This is the recommended rate, allowing us to provide certified guides, while helping us to steward and protect our 716 acre nature preserve.

  • Meditation Day Retreat Sustainer Rate: $100 This is the recommended rate for those who can help support this work and allow us to pay it forward to others.

  • Meditation Day Retreat It’s All Good Rate: $20 This is greatly accepted for those who can pay this amount as a show of the value exchanged and your support of the forest.

Optionally, if you would like us to also provide healthy snacks and an organic, vegan lunch, then you’ll be able to select that for an additional $25 that you should add to your amount at checkout.

What You may Expect

No prior experience with mindfulness meditation is required. Instruction and guidance will be offered as needed. Prior to the retreat, I will contact you to answer any questions you may have and introduce us. We will offer some tri-fold cushions, but please bring your own meditation cushion in addition if you have one.

Bala is a student of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s two-year professional training program at the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California at Berkeley. He teaches mindfulness, self-compassion, loving kindness and meditation. Everything is secular and practical for a variety of people’s lives.

  • 12:00pm: Guided mindfulness practice

  • 12:30pm: Walking meditation instructions and practice

  • 1:15pm: Lightly guided meditation with silence

  • 2:30pm Lunch break (mindful eating instructions)
